Description:
- We are currently supporting a leading international engineering contractor in the appointment of an experienced HSE Manager for a major data centre project in Norway.
- This is an excellent opportunity for a Health & Safety professional with experience in data centres, mission-critical facilities, large-scale construction, MEP, or critical infrastructure projects to join one of Europe’s fastest-growing sectors.
Skills:
- The successful candidate will take ownership of all Health, Safety and Environmental activities across the project, ensuring compliance, driving best practice, and promoting a positive safety culture throughout the construction lifecycle.
The Opportunity:
- Reporting directly to the Project Director, the HSE Manager will lead the implementation of the project HSE strategy and provide expert guidance to project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders.
- Working within a fast-paced and technically complex environment, you will play a key role in ensuring safe project delivery while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Health & Safety Leadership
- Lead and manage the project Health & Safety programme.
- Promote a proactive and positive safety culture across all site activities.
- Ensure compliance with project-specific, client, and statutory HSE requirements.
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and site assessments.
- Manage incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
- Review and approve RAMS, permits to work, and high-risk activity documentation.
- Deliver HSE briefings, inductions, and toolbox talks.
- Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with local legislation and company standards.
- Develop and maintain project HSE plans and procedures.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance.
- Maintain site safety records, reporting systems, and KPI metrics.
- Identify and mitigate project risks through effective planning and intervention.
- Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary HSE point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
- Support construction, commissioning, and project management teams.
- Prepare regular reports for senior management and project leadership.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the project.
- Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a dedicated HSE role.
- Previous experience on Data Centre, Mission Critical, Construction, MEP, Infrastructure, Energy, or Industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of HSE legislation and industry best practices.
- NEBOSH General Certificate, NEBOSH Construction Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
- Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced project environment.
